KTY: Aku

Living in exile, Shuten-dōji grew in power and knowledge. He mastered strange, dark magic, and taught it to his thugs. He met another demon child like him, named Ibaraki-dōji, who became his chief servant. Over time, the young man and his gang gradually transformed into oni, and eventually he had a whole clan of oni and yokai thugs who prowled the highways, terrorizing the people of Kyoto in a drunken rage. He and his gang eventually settled on Mount Ōe, where, in a dark castle, he plotted to conquer the capital and rule as emperor.

Shuten-dōji and his gang rampaged through Kyoto, capturing noble virgins, drinking their blood and eating their organs raw. Finally, a band of heroes led by the legendary warrior Minamoto no Yorimitsu assaulted Shuten-dōji’s palace, and with the help of some magical poison, were able to assault the oni band during a bout of heavy drinking. They cut off the drunken Shuten-dōji’s head, but even after cutting it off, the head continued to bite at Minamoto no Yorimitsu.*

Rumors spread after the death of Shuten-Doji.Some say that before Shuten Doji was beheaded, It was said that he impregnated another oni from his gang. With this rumor, Izanami and Izanagi both decided to take away the child for safe keeping and to avoid further chaos. The newborn child, Aku's father, was taken in by the Gods and was raised by them like their own son but trained him to be a familiar. His father was the direct descendant of Shuten Doji thus, he gained the attributes of his father in terms of strength. He was also able to use dark magic. He met his wife while guarding Izanami on her afternoon stroll. The two met and fell in love with each other, Aku's father introduced her to both of the Gods and their love was accepted.

Years has passed and they gave birth to their son 'Aku'. While Izanami was placing a blessing on him, she stopped for a while and a looked at Aku for a while with a slight horrified expression on her face.

'He takes after his grandfather.....but has the emotions of her mother....if he knows about what he can do....it 'shall' repeat again'

With that advice, Izanami placed her blessing on the child.


Around this particular time, Izanami's familiar is Aku's mother while Izanagi's familiar was his father. He grew up normally and was trained by both of his parents for 42 years to learn about the duties of being a familiar. Aku also had the attribute of being abnormally intelligent which originated from his grandfather but he wasn't anti-social at all.

On Aku's 43rd birthday, His Mother grew ill and eventually died 2 years later due to extreme fatigue. Aku disliked seeing deaths so he mourned about it for days and eventually came around after. He replaced his mother as the familiar for the Goddess Izanami and Aku had great respect and admiration for her. Izanami taught her about things that he should know, advices, things he needs to do and so on.

257 years later, His father also died since he was already too old. He was supposed to take up the position of being the familiar of Izanagi too but the God declined and said that Aku should focus more on Izanami, which he did so.
